Privacy Protection - Know Your Boundaries

Austa Care staff play an important role in ensuring the privacy of customer information. Staff must understand the legislative framework that governs customer information and learn to identify privacy obligations, obtain privacy guidance, understand the consequences of privacy breaches, and how to report privacy breaches.

Introduction to work, safety and health

Austa Care ensures everyone has the same understanding of work, health and safety through training, including defining roles and responsibilities, identifying and managing risks, and understanding responsibility for incident reporting.

CPR - Basic Life Support

Healthcare workers must maintain current CPR skills and knowledge, including becoming familiar with the Australian CPR Council requirements, listing the steps in the ANZCOR flowchart for providing basic life support, outlining the steps of the basic life support flowchart involved in the DRSABCD, and applying them to simulation scenarios.

Person-centered care

This training helps staff provide person-centered care, including engaging clients in care information and decisions, learning from experience, providing services consistent with client care preferences, and promoting dignity and respect for clients.

All Austa Care staff involved in the administration of medications are required to pass a medication safety competency test to ensure they can explain safe practice standards, convert doses, check and administer medications, and ensure consumers understand their medicine needs and risks.

Wound management includes comprehensive assessment, implementation of evidence-based wound management methods, pressure ulcer prevention and management, and ongoing assessment of the wound healing process. Employees are required to pass a wound care competency test.

Austa Care aims to reduce clients’ risk of falls and provide adequate post-fall management through training and competency assessment, including delivering person-centred care, preventing falls within legislation, and supporting consumers’ independence and freedom of movement.

Austa Care provides catheter support to participants, including the management of indwelling or suprapubic catheters. All staff involved in catheter care are required to pass a competency assessment to provide a safe and quality service.
